The Ronceverte City Council held its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5 at Council Chambers.
After approval of the minutes from the Sept. 14 meeting, the council moved quickly through the next four items on the agenda. There was no discussion on the following items: Old Business, Wastewater Related Business, Water Related Business, and Stormwater Related Business.
In new business, the council approved a request from the Ronceverte Baptist Church to have a temporary closure of Locust Street during the Community Fall Family Festival on Saturday, Oct. 24. The festival, which will run from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m., will feature games, food, and a pumpkin decorating contest.
For those interested in the pumpkin decorating contest, participants should bring their decorated pumpkin from home. There will be a kids division for those 12 and under and an adult division for those 13 and up. The cash prizes for 1st through 3rd place are $100, $75, and $50, respectively.
Mayor Pack commented on the recent groundbreaking for the Ronceverte Food Pantry, noting it was a very positive thing for the community. Pack also noted that the pickleball courts are open and the city intends to have a grand opening ceremony later this month. The date will be announced on the city’s Facebook page.
