There was a special meeting of the Lewisburg City Council on Sept. 23. The only item on the agenda was “next steps regarding the Ronceverte water system.”
In August, the Ronceverte City Council approved a $31 million deal to sell the city’s water and wastewater systems to West Virginia American Water Company. To complete the sale, the deal must undergo a comprehensive regulatory review by the West Virginia Public Service Commission. The County Commission has expressed some concern about how the deal may impact residents outside the Ronceverte city limits as well as future infrastructure-related development.
After calling the meeting to order, the council moved to executive session to discuss the issue. After an hour-long executive session, the council announced its discussions did not result in any decisions or actions.
