Gary Wayne Miller, 63, of Summersville, WV, formerly of Ansted, passed away Sept. 15, 2026, at Summersville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 24, 1963, in Charlton Heights, WV, he was raised in Ansted and later made his home in Summersville. For more than 30 years he worked the rivers of West Virginia as a raft guide, and he also owned a construction company. Both suited a man who never minded a little current, a challenge, or a little trouble. He loved the beach, enjoyed fishing, grilling and cooking, and was well known for stirring the pot, a gift he practiced with equal parts humor and honesty. Above all, his children were his number one.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Miller; his father, Jackie Miller; and his brother, Andrew Miller.
Gary is survived by his fiancée, Jessica Waldon; his children, Joshua (Kellie) Miller, Taylor (Kevin) Elder, Jackson Miller, Lainie Miller; and his granddaughter, Adaline Miller.
Those who knew him will remember the guide who spent decades on the water, the builder who put in the work on land, the father who put his kids first, always made time for his friends, and the man who could always be counted on to say the thing no one else would.
