Ray Charles Cutlip, 62, of Asbury passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026 following a brief courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born Aug. 6, 1963, to the late Carl H. and Madeline Cutlip of Alderson.

Ray enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid hunter and looked forward to spending time at his hunting camp during deer season. He was a talented mechanic and had a passion for working on small engines, especially lawn mowers. He was a skilled carpenter and became well versed in whatever line of work he pursued. He had a big heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone, no matter the task.

He married the love of his life, Dorothy “Dottie” Cole on Oct. 20, 1989. She preceded him in death May 10, 2022. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his father Carl H. Cutlip; brother-in-law Charley Clay; brother-in-law Larry Young; daughter Pam Walker; daughter-in-law Rosemary Cole; and grandson John Cline.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his mother, Madeline Cutlip of Alderson; brother Carl Curtis and his wife Darlene of Crawley; his sisters, Christina Ernst and her husband Rick and Doris Delay and her husband Larry of Iowa; Betty Young and Tammy Clay both of Alderson; his daughters Bonnie Cline and her husband Jeff of Lewisburg and Cindi Cole of Asbury; son John “JJ” Cole and his wife Merriam of Asbury; his grandchildren Rick, Robert, Jeremy, Tish, Amanda, J.J., Megan and Katie; 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and numerous extended family.

Funeral service will be Sunday, June 14, at 3 p.m. at the Emmanual United Methodist Church at Asbury, with Pastor Joey Morgan and Pastor Jonathan Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Asbury United Methodist Cemetery. Family will gather from 1 to 2 p.m. Friends may call Sunday, June 14, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Emmanual United Methodist Church in Asbury.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

For those wishing to show an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Cutlip to the Emmanual United Methodist Church, ℅ Yvonne Palmer, 2502 Bennet Ct., Asbury, WV 24916.
