Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant said this week she is pleased to hear the Senate Military Committee voted to unanimously pass a bipartisan bill that would waive the registration fee for a new business started by a veteran and the annual report filing fee for the first four years – a potential savings of up to $200.
The Secretary of State’s Office will absorb the cost of waiving the fees and it will not cost taxpayers any additional money.
“This bill says to our veterans: ‘If you’ve served our country, West Virginia is here to serve you.’ I am proud to see all sides work together to do right by our veterans and grow West Virginia’s economy. I look forward to continued cooperation as the bill makes its way to the Senate floor,” Secretary Tennant said. “I would like to thank Chairman Kent Leonhardt for putting this bipartisan bill on his committee’s agenda and extend my gratitude to the committee members for recognizing the bill’s importance to our veterans.”
The bill was endorsed this week by the West Virginia Veterans Coalition.
The “Boots to Business Bill” now advances to the Senate Finance Committee where it must pass before advancing to the floor.
