Dear Editor:
What have been the results of Trump’s war on Iran? Is it even over? Trump says he is not in any hurry. Recently it was reported that Trump didn’t care if negotiations are over. He is getting bored. The shooting continues.
After Trump started his attack, Iran closed down the Strait of Hormuz. Trump’s response was to blockade Iran’s ports. This resulted in no ships going in or out and the international economy is struggling.
Trump claims to be working on a deal. Since the war started Trump has claimed victory and that Iran’s military had been destroyed. Yet the Strait is still closed, and Trump warns Iran to make a deal or else. Iran’s destroyed military can still control what goes through the Strait.
Trump said he had to make sure Iran never built a nuclear weapon. Trump months ago claimed that his bombing had obliterated Iran’s nuclear program. Trump wants Iran’s uranium, Iran has said no way.
There is supposed to be a cease fire, yet the United States has bombed areas around the Strait of Hormuz. Government officials have called it a defensive procedure.
When Trump started this war, he said it would be short and easy but ten weeks later we are still fighting this war. Trump claimed victory immediately, but Iran wants Trump to surrender. Daily Trump claims negotiations are ongoing and fruitful. Yet still no deal. Every other week, since Trump started this war, Trump claimed a deal was imminent.
We are daily wasting billions of dollars for Trump’s war and can’t afford programs that would actually benefit people. It could take years to replace the weapons he is wasting on Iran.
Our Congress people have been missing in action. They refuse to curtail Trump and this reckless and expensive war.
