Gerald Keith Chandler, 93, passed away on Dec. 6, 2026, in Crawley, WV. He was born Oct. 8, 1932, the youngest of four children.
Those preceding him in death include his parents I. Faye Chandler and W. Merritt Chandler, his sister Gaye M. Whitehead, and brothers Walter M. Chandler, Jr., and William A. Chandler.
He is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Mary Jo Chandler, daughter Gwendolyn Rusk (Craig), daughter Glenna Roones (Kevin), and granddaughters Karen Sempertegui (Jess), Devon Rusk, and Stephanie Roones.
Gerald grew up in Raleigh County, WV. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, Gerald served in the US Navy. He graduated from Marshall College (now Marshall University), Huntington, WV, with a degree in Business Administration.
An entrepreneur, Gerald owned and operated several small cable television systems in southern West Virginia for more than 25 years. In retirement he was an avid woodturner, creating many beautiful and functional pieces of wood turnings, and was a member of West Virginia Woodturners Association.
A memorial service will be held at West Point Baptist Church in Asbury, WV, with the Rev. Ron Miller officiating on Saturday, Apr. 11, at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Point Baptist Church, Asbury, WV, or to the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Museum, Hillsboro, WV.
