The Greenbrier County Committee on Aging is sponsoring the fourth annual Senior Prom – a prom for the rest of us.
This is a prom for the adults in the community to dance the night away with music from the “old days:” the ‘40s, ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Come dressed for the prom, whatever that was in your day or in blue jeans. The point is to have some fun.
The event will be held on Friday, Apr. 22, at the Alumni Building at WVSOM from 7-10 p.m. Free snacks and refreshments will be available. Tickets are $15 a single or $25 a couple and are available at the Senior Centers or at the door on Apr. 22.
Sponsorship of a table is $100 or $50 for half a table, with sponsors receiving free tickets and their names displayed on the tables. All residents of nursing homes in the area have been invited to attend without cost. Co-sponsor of the event is the student Geriatric Club at WVSOM who will join in the fun and dancing. Monies raised will go to provide services to seniors in Greenbrier County.
The Committee has currently faced cutbacks in staff time due to less funding from government sources. All proceeds from the Prom will go toward continuing services for Senior Citizens in Greenbrier County.
The Greenbrier County Committee on Aging provides services to seniors in all of Greenbrier County. These services include Meals on Wheels, congregate meals and activities at the Fairlea, Rupert and Alderson Senior Centers, in-home respite care, medication management, personal care and transportation for appointments and shopping. If you or a family member needs one of these services please call 304-645-1978 or 304-392-5198 for more information.
If you cannot come to the Prom, but want to make a donations, checks can be made out to GCCA and mailed to GCCA, P.O. Box 556, Rupert, WV, 25984.
