The 2106 Greenbrier East Volleyball Camp is set for June 6-9, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the gym at Greenbrier East High School. For upcoming 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The camp will be run by Greenbrier East High School Coaches. Matt Sauvage is going into his 14th year, 11 years as head coach. Taelor Curry is beginning her 1st year as a coach at GEHS. Other coaches participating: Jenna Brown – 4 years at GEHS and 4 years with the Greenbrier club program, Pat Cochran – 2 years at EGMS and 2 years with the Greenbrier club program and JD Loudermilk – 3 years at EGMS and 4 years with the Greenbrier club program. In the past 13 years there have been 18 players go on to play at the college level. East players, past and present, will also be assisting as camp counselors.
In the past 12 years, East Volleyball has accomplished the following: four Sectional Titles, Regional competition 11 years, two Regional Titles, four state tournament appearances and a State Runner-up finish in 2013. The 2015 campaign of East Volleyball was a very successful one; they finished the season 7th in the state along with a 33-16 record.
These camps will help players develop their entire game. All skills will be touched upon in both individual and team skill situations. The campers will learn and develop better skills in passing, hitting, serving and setting. The primary focus will be fundamentals, with advanced skill development. Campers will receive individual instruction many times throughout the camps. The Campers will work very hard but will also have a lot of fun.
Things to bring: water bottle, knee pads, court shoes, active attire and a great attitude.
