Ernest Howard Allman
Fairlea-Ernest Howard "Ernie" Allman, 74, died
Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Greenbrier Valley Hospital, after an extended
illness.
He was born Apr. 28, 1934, in Beard, to Howard Charles and
Viola Marie Carr Allman,
Ernie lived most of his life in West Virginia and graduated
from Greenbrier High School with the class of 1953. While in high school he
participated in all sports and received a scholarship to WV Tech. Ernie worked
for the U.S. Post Office in Washington, DC, and later worked in construction
and electrical work. He served three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean
War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
brothers, Eugene C. Allman in 1969, Kenneth H. Allman Sr. in 1993, and an
infant brother, Samuel Carlyle Allman.
He is survived by: his ex-wife and friend, Ada Jane McLamb
Allman of Benson, NC; daughter, Melody Jane Daggerhart and husband Wes of Oak
Harbor, WA; two granddaughters, Heather and Hali Daggerhart of Oak Harbor, WA;
brothers, M. Thomas "Tom" Allman and wife Diane of Spruce, MI, and
Dale Allman of Spring, TX; two sisters, Carolyn Leef and husband David, address
unknown, and Marilyn Campbell of Fairlea; two special nieces, Laura Allman and
Tara Campbell who helped their mother Marilyn care for him for the past 15
years; nine nieces and two nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank the Greenbrier High School
Alumni Class of 1953 for their prayers, care, and concern for Ernie in
his last days.
At Ernie’s request there was no service. His body was
cremated and interment will be at the Morningside Cemetery in Renick on
Saturday, June 28, at 11 a.m. A family memorial service will be held at a later
date.
Family and friends wishing to attend the graveside service on
Saturday, June 28, are asked to be at the Longanacre Funeral Hone, Fort Spring,
by 9:30 a.m.
Brenda Kay Gilmore
Alderson-Brenda Kay Gilmore, 52, passed away Monday,
June 23, 2008, after a motor vehicle accident near Alderson.
Born Sept. 11, 1955, in Ronceverte, she was the daughter of
Hazel C. Price of Alderson and the late Harold E. Price.
Mrs. Gilmore had lived in Alderson for two years and was
formerly of Ronceverte. She was a member of the Greenbrier Valley Church of the
Nazarene of Fairlea and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1986 and a
sister, Linda Price in 1956.
Survivors include: her husband, Ronald C. Gilmore of
Alderson; her mother, Hazel C. Price of Alderson; daughter, Stepanie Lindsay of
Rupert; son, Brandon E. Gilmore of Alderson; two stepsons, Roy C. Gilmore and
Ronnie C. Gilmore, Jr. both of Hopewell, VA; three brothers, Ronald E. Price
and Timmy Price both of Rupert, and Harold Michael Price of Asbury; three
grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 27, at the
Greenbrier Valley Church of the Nazarene, Fairlea, where Rev. Glen Thaxton
officiated.
Burial was in the Adwell Cemetery, Ronceverte.
Pallbearers were: Leon Lovelace, Tommy Rose, George Gascon,
Norman Fitzgerald, Cantini Parkinson and Justin Defibaugh.
Friends called Thursday evening, June 26, at the Greenbrier
Valley Church of the Nazarene, Fairlea, and one hour prior to the service on
Friday at the church.
Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea, was in charge of
arrangements.
Stella Mae
Pittsenbarger
Rupert-Stella Mae Pittsenbarger, 93, passed away on
Thursday, June 19, 2008, at her residence following a long illness.
Born Jan. 5, 1915, at Spring Creek, Renick, she was a
daughter of the late Lamard Laton and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jane Boggs
Lewis.
Stella was a homemaker and a member of the House of Prayer
in Charmco.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by:
her husband, Loftin Pittsenbarger in 1996; daughter, Anna Michalak; two
sisters, Glenna Boney and Wilma Alford; brother, Ovid Lewis; and grandchild,
Steven Steele.
Survivors include: daughter, Teresa Hedrick of Rupert;
sister, Helen Johnson of Renick; two grandchildren, Charlotte Anderson and
Tammy Peterson; great-grandchild, Paul Allen; three great-great-grandchildren,
Leonard and Carla Hedrick and Paul Bland, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday, June 22, at the Wallace Memorial
Mausoleum Chapel in Clintonville where the Rev. Albert Shortridge officiated.
Burial was in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery.
Friends called one hour before the service. There was no
evening visitation.

Edith Cochran Wyatt
Fairlea-Edith Cochran Wyatt, 85, passed away Wednesday,
June 25, 2008, at her home in Fairlea.
She was born June 13, 1923, at Trout, a daughter of the late
Frank and Ada Hankins Cochran.
Edith was a homemaker, a member of Lewisburg United
Methodist Church, and was a member of AARP.
In to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her
husband, Lawrence E. Wyatt on Mar. 5, 1998; sister, Glenna Hedrick; brother,
Edward Cochran; and nephew, David Cochran.
Survivors include: sister, Dorothy Newhouse of Baltimore,
MD; two brothers, Lacy E. Cochran and wife, Florence of Mathias and Joe Cochran
and wife, Almeda of Organ Cave; sister-in-law, Audrey Cochran of Fort Walton
Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Joyce, Gary, Michael, Wendell; Darrell, Mark,
Brenda, Diana and Edward, Jr.; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
The Cochran Family would like to give "Special
Thanks" to Debbie King, Sharon Patterson, Cathy Wilson, Nina Honaker, and
Carolyn Dixon for all the love and care Edith received.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 28, at 1
p.m. at Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg with Rev. Jeff Kanode officiating.
There will be no evening visitation.
