‘More For Your Money Sale’ held by Angus Association

The Southwest Virginia Angus Association held its 41st Annual “More For Your Money Sale” on Oct. 19 at the Southwest Bull Test Station Sale Facility in Wytheville, VA. Fifty-four lots of registered Angus cattle went through the sale ring to average $2,344. The top selling cow/calf pair was consigned by Justafew Angus, Max Meadows, VA; the cow is a five year old daughter of S S Objective 6807 T5 10 bred to calve Dec. 16 to the service of H A Program 5652 and she sold for $2,950 to John Hodges of Bulls Gap, TN. Her Jan. 1, 2013 heifer calf sired by HARB Pendleton 765 J H sold for $1,850 to Robert Wiley of Dublin, VA. Total of this pair was $4,800.
The second top selling lot was a consignment of Lyn Lew Farm, Dublin, VA. The cow is a five year old daughter of B/R New Frontier 095 due to calve Apr. 2 to G A R Prophet and she sold for $2,500 to John Hodges of Bulls Gap, TN. Her Mar. 26, 2013 heifer calf sired by Connealy Irish 0204 sold for $1,900 to D&J Meade Farm of Gate City, VA. Total of this pair was $4,400.
The third top selling pair was a consignment of Graystone Farm of Wytheville, VA. The cow is a two year old daughter of Sitz Upward 307R bred to calve Mar. 19 to Connealy Right Answer 746 and she sold for $2,200 to James Osborne of Nickelsville,VA. Her heifer calf was born on Mar. 30 sired by AAR Ten X 7008 S A and she sold for $1,950 to D&J Meade Farm of Gate City, VA. Total of this pair was $4,150.
Top-selling fall calving pair was a consignment of Triple C Farm of Meadowview, VA. She is a four-year old daughter of G A R Predestined with an Aug. 29 bull calf by Connealy Confidence 011. This pair sold for $3,400 to Mike Cress of Concord, NC.
We had 30 buyers from Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. Volume buyer was Kegley Farm of Bland, VA, Eddie Rash of West Jefferson, NC and Larry Martin of King, NC. Smith Reasor of Rural Retreat was the Auctioneer and George T. Johnstone, Jr. of Wytheville, VA was the Sale Coordinator.
The next sale for the Southwest Virginia Angus Association will be the Dec. 7 “Southwest Virginia Angus Finest Sale” held at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Abingdon, VA. At this sale we will be selling, 49 Performance Tested Registered Angus Bulls, 60 Registered Angus Female Lots consisting of open heifers, bred heifers, bred cows and cows with fall calves and also 10 commercial females. The Bulls average 646 lbs. 205 day adj. wt. 3.97 lbs. gain on test and 1193 lbs. yearling weight. This is a superior group of Angus seedstock.
