Dabney S. Lancaster Community College hosted a training exercise Friday, Aug. 14, to prepare staff, faculty, students and local law enforcement officials in the event of a crisis situation. The realistic scenario involved two “perpetrators” and three “victims.” Responding to the scene were members of the Virginia State Police, Alleghany County Sheriff’s Department, Buena Vista Police Department, Clifton Forge Police Department and the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad. The campus remained on lockdown for several hours, followed by an evaluation of the training exercise by those who played a role.
