Greenbrier athletes participate in bowling tournaments

Greenbrier County Special Olympics athletes participated in the State Special Olympics Bowling Tournament in Charleston the first weekend of December and Greenbrier County Special Olympics’ Cannonball Bowling Tournament on Dec. 21 in Lewisburg. They took time to talk to each resident, and gave them all a small gift. In a game between Massachusetts (in red) and Southern New Jersey held last Saturday, Dec. 12, at Greenbrier East’s football field, Jaeden Gould, #2, from Somerset, NJ, tries to elude Owen McGowan, #30, from Canton, MA.  Massachusetts won the game, 24-16, then in a game against Maryland the following day lost 50-30, and was knocked out of the competition (7th Grade Division).  
The Football University National Championship Playoffs were held all day Saturday and Sunday at several sites around the country, one of which was Lewisburg.  Winners last weekend advance to play in the semi-finals and Championship Game Dec. 19-20 in Naples, Florida. Photo by Mark Robinson
